1c vs .99c- @walgreens your ad says .99c you gave me a $1.

So I went into @walgreens today to purchase one product and one product only.  The nutrition sustaining energy mix by PLANTERS, cause when you buy it you get .99c back...well I purchased them and the register reward was for $1.  Someone who doesn't coupon would think that is better right? Wrong.  The .99c coupon/ register reward that I got from y'all I planned to use at BI-LO to double and turn .99c into $1.98 and now that will not happen.  @walgreens is that wrong?
